Coral Food Plus by Microbe Lift is a gastronomic smorgasbord to feed all your corals with a huge diversity of food items. Microbe Lift drafted the recipe for Coral Food Plus to include everything that all corals might need and want, and then some.
Loosely defined, if your focus is on SPS corals then you’ll want food in the small particle size between 20-500 microns. If LPS corals like chalices and scolies are more your thing, then you’ll want to aim for meatier fare in the 50 to 1000 microns range. Meanwhile, the dedicated sponge lovers, soft coral keepers and giant clam fans will probably aim to feed their favorite reef life foods with a particle size of 50 microns and below.
Coral Food Plus is designed to provide coral food stuffs with particle sizes between 5 and 100 microns with just about all the latest and greatest ingredients you could possible throw in a coral food of this sort. Amino Acids, Phytoplanktons and a bevy of other ingredients cover just about any possible food you could provide corals with one one neat ingredient notably added and another ostensibly missing.
Microbe Lift has foregone the use of Spirulina which they perceive to be more cyanobacteria than nutrition, although this omission isn’t compensated for with Chlorella. The other really neat additive is the inclusion of probiotic bacterial cultures a-la Cobalt Aquatics even though that food is made for fish.
Currently, Microbe Lift’s Coral Food Plus is only available in Europe at a rate of about €19.99 (~$27) per 100 grams but with Microbe Lift well established in North America, it’s probably only a matter of time until we see it stateside. [Aquaristic]
