We recently came across some photos displaying a woman’s eye makeup inspired by our salty friends and it looks totally rad. While there’s no denying that this hobby is dominated by males, heres to hoping that this will be something we’ll see more of the fairer sex reefing in the future. We all know and love the Blue Hippo tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) but can you imagine the woman of your dreams with something a bit more classier, like a Gem Tang or a pair of Flame Wrasses?
These photos really got us thinking about the rise of marine and aquarium culture and how it has had an influence on modern pop culture and style. We know that it exists and is evident in things like reef-related ink (tattoos) and even in your favorite pair of shoes, which leaves us wondering what’s next? Lady (and all) reefers, we challenge you to show us how aquariums and reefing has inspired your sense of style… even if that only includes the endless amount of reef-related t-shirts you sport that were scavenged collected at MACNA!
