The negative human impact on our oceans are waterways is pretty astounding when you look at the amount of trash and debris gets washed “away” each day. Trash has to go somewhere and in an effort to keep Baltimore’s Inner Harbor free of trash, the city has implemented a water wheel to extract the debris from the water. In this video shot after a rain storm on Friday, May 16 the Inner Harbor Water Wheel picked up four dumpsters full of trash from the Jones Falls stream. This prevented nearly 40,000 pounds of trash and debris from going into the Baltimore Harbor and Chesapeake Bay.
