Just a short while ago we shared the adjustable baffle from ReefToys which enables even the least handy reefers to customize a standard glass tank into a sump of their own. In our write up we noted how cool it was to have such a niche and specialty accessory available for aquarists while simultaneously lamenting the absence of a similar baffle that could transform in all dimensions.
We don’t know if ReefToys already had their ‘multidimensional’ adjustable XYZ baffle in the works at the time of our writing or if they took inspiration from our challenge. Either way, last week a video from ReefToys was published revealing what an XYZ baffle looks like and how it might work.
From the video of the XYZ adjustable baffle we can see that it has about a half inch of wiggle room in the width just like the first crop of adjustable baffles. Meanwhile it appears to have several inches of adjustment possible in the height of the baffle, allowing users to really fine tune protein skimmer performance by dialing the sweet spot of water depth it prefers.
There is not yet any pricing or too many details about the ReefTous XYZ baffle but if it works well, this could actually be an even more useful accessory for existing sumps that already have fixed baffles, but could stand to get water height a little more under control.
