Seachem Pristine is one of a trio of products along with PhosBond and PhosNet, recently released by Seachem to help improve water quality. Pristine helps rid your aquarium of organic waste in the form of nasty sludge and built up detritus through a safe, natural recipe designed for both marine and freshwater systems.
According to Seachem, Pristine uses bio-augmentation, which is a non-chemical and natural method, to improve water quality. Like other natural products, Pristine includes bacteria that break down excess food, waste and detritus all the while reducing excess nutrients — ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites — that can fuel and accelerate the growth of nuisance and disease-causing organisms.
The bacteria Seachem chose for use in Pristine are specifically developed for hardiness and its ability to adapt to a wide variety of environmental conditions. The product looks pretty promising as they can thrive in nearly any aquatic environment while eating away organic compounds including fats that can cause film layers on the water. Seachem also points out, unlike traditional nitrifying bacteria, this bacterial blend can adapt to harsh or low oxygen environments and continue to multiply and improve water conditions.
