The Kamoer F05X Wireless Dosing and Water Change System is an intriguing unit taking the benefits of a peristaltic pumping station, an automatics top off (ATO) and an automatic water change unit and combining it into one. Fitted with three peristaltic pumps to handle your dosing requirements, the beauty of the Kamoer F05X is the addition of a pair of stepper pumps to extract the dirty water and replace it with clean water so you (almost) never have to do a manual water change.
The F05X has the typical feature set you see in most dosing systems for your additional elements — calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, liquid carbon (vodka and such), etc. — but adds more versatility and control. The F05X has a built-in a WiFi radio in it to allow you to connect the unit to your PC or Android smartphone or tablet. With the web/smartphone interface you can set your dosing and water change parameters. Dosing can be set 1-24 times per day as well as multi-day settings (such as every two days, or every other day and day of week, etc.)
For water changes, using the software program, you just enter in the size of your aquarium and tell it what percent of the total volume you want changed per week and it does the work for you. Obviously you need to tie in you system to a drain and have adequate top-off water prepared in advance, but leave the buckets and siphon on the sideline for the dirty work as the F05X does it for you.
There are some additional features that may be redundant depending on your current aquarium automation system, but the F05X has water temperature detection and threshold alarms, infrared water level detection, and high and low level float detection.
The F05X has a real-time clock and battery backup to give you more control over your pump and allow you to retain your settings in case of a power outage. It also features a backlit LCD screen so you can easily check the status on the unit. In case you don’t have the ability to connect via WiFi, the F05X can connect to your computer via a R485 Serial Cable. The Kamoer F05X will retail for $499 and is available in May and distributed in North and South America by Deep Water Aquatics.
