Reef aquarium sumps are getting nicer every year and Royal Exclusiv hasn’t been resting on their laurels. Royal Exclusiv kicked off the high performance sump arms race with their Dreambox and now you can get it with a ‘Closed Loop’ option.
When we think of a closed loop the first thing that comes to mind is providing water flow inside the aquarium. But sumps can have a closed loop as well, in the form of a manifold that delivers water flow to all the various aquarium filters and accessories within the sump. This being Royal Exclusiv, you can be assured that they’ve executed the closed loop feature of their Dreambox in glorious fashion.
The Dreambox Closed Loop is equipped with a number of controllable Red Dragon pumps to both provide flow to the aquarium and to precisely dial in the flow to the various media filters. There’s one pump for the return water flow and the filtration manifold, two pumps for the closed loop with a pre-set location with inlet and outlet tubes, and there’s even a new control box mounting feature to keep it all easy on the eyes.
This first model of the Royal Exclusiv includes only one filter row, a protein skimmer, a return-pump, and of course two pumps for the closed–loop. Internal propeller pumps are really efficient at moving water inside the aquarium but if you want the cleanest aquarium interior possible, there’s no substitution for a proper closed water flow system.
Having the closed loop pumps right inside might add a little extra heat to the aquarium water, but if you live in cool climates this will reduce your aquarium heater requirements, and best of all it reduces the already reduced noise coming from the closed loop Red Dragon pumps. The price for the Dreambox Closed Loop edition has not yet been set but if you’re in the market for a Royal Exclusiv Dreambox, money is probably not an object.
