We started the tradition six years ago bringing you a heaping helping of Black Friday deals and this year is no different. In fact, we took the pulse of our readers to get an eye on what they are looking for and what they are looking to spend this year. There are plenty of retailers with great aquarium deals for you to choose from, so we narrowed it down a bit with some deals from our sponsors and friends. We are sure to have missed some, so please feel free to let us know what we’re missing and we’ll make sure to follow up as the week goes on.
Over the years we have seen some great deals on equipment, goods and livestock and have been known to hoard some extra cash just to pick up some great goodies for ourselves. Hopefully you don’t have to wait to open your gifts until later, but if you do, savor the next few weeks knowing you saved yourself a few bucks — and didn’t have to get out of your pajamas either.
Here are our selection of 2015 Black Friday deals in no particular order:
Premium Aquatics
The team at Premium Aquatics is in the midst of a storewide 15% off storewide from Nov 20 to Nov 30 (excludes some MAP items with prices set by the manufacturer). They just kicked off a 15% off GHL Doser sale valid through Nov. 30 and you can save 10% off Bubble King 10% through Nov 30 as well.
LED Groupbuy
LED Groupbuy says they are not making any financial sense this year and slashing the entire store’s already lowest prices by another 15% with free shipping for all USA orders over $199. This sales brings the best selling multi-chip, the 5 channel Lumia 5.2 to under $85. LEDGroupBuy only does two sales a year and last year the stock went incredibly fast. Ocean Swipe 360
This Ocean Swipe 360 robotic glass cleaner is still on Kickstarter but you can get a 15% discount code now through December 4 by using the discount code “os360bf”. Visit the company’s Kickstarter page and after making your pledge, send them an email providing the discount code. All discounts will be applied upon completion of payment. If you’ve already pledged, no worries! They will honor the code and will notify you by email.
GHL USA
GHL USA started early kicking off their holiday sales on November 23 and it will run through November 30. All GHL Mitras LX (20% off!), Doser 2 units (15% off!) and Profilux controller packs (15% off!) will be on sale at CM Distributors or at your closest GHL dealer. Take advantage of this opportunity to own the ever popular GHL Doser 2, Profilux 3.1 controller, and/or Mitras LX Led fixture.
Rapid LED
Over at Rapid LED they are running some one day sales and will have a longer sale running through Monday. Kicking things off is All Onyx fixtures (aquarium/horticulture) will be $99 off on Tues., Nov 24 only. Enter code ONYX2015 to receive the discount. On Wed., Nov. 25 all Aurora pucks will be $80 (regular price $110). Enter code PUCK2015 to receive the discount. Orphek
The team at Orphek have two big deals going on. The first is saving $200 on preorders of the Orphek Atlantik 3 units Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday on November 30. The second deal is $75 off any Atlantik V2.1B, Compact or Pendant orders.
Legendary Corals
Legendary Corals probably hosts one of the craziest and fun livestock events with their mega “Black Saturday Sale”. They are official threads for the event at Reef2Reef and Nano-Reef with all the details. The event runs from rom 10 am – 4 pm PST with 500+ corals and the best part is that pieces will be no more than $20 each and plenty of $1 and $5 pieces. There are plenty of rules that make it fun, so please read the threads in advance. They are also giving away five prizes, three of which are Extreme Coral Packs worth $400+ each and offering shipping only $30 if you prepay before the event, on the day of the event, shipping will be back up to $50.
Mindblowing Corals
Mindblowing Corals already kicked off their Thanksgiving sale with a “mindblowing” 40% off until Saturday night. Then you can catch your breath for a day and head back on Monday for cyber Monday Extravaganza where everything on the site will be marked 50% to 60% off for that day.
Tropical Oasis
Tropical Oasis is one of the few Brick and Morters we have listed with a sale, but if you are in the area, stop by and say “Hi!” They will be open on Saturday, November 29 from 10am to 6pm and will feature 10% off all livestock to include corals, 25% off Seachem products and 10% off all food (frozen, flake and alive).
Aqua Medic USA
Aqua Medic Water Testing is offering a $29.00 special on AWT (Aqua Medic Water Testing) service. Normal cost on a single series water test service (13 parameters) is $46.99. The special will run Nov 27 – 30. This deal will extend to any and all people who would like to use the service, stores, service companies, and consumers alike. Customers who add “Reefbuilders” to the comments section when placing their order will receive and additional free Iron test, a $12.99 value.
My Reef to Yours
My Reef to Yours is doing a “Spectacular Black Friday Sale” from 9 am to 9 pm MST on Friday, November 27. They have great deals on corals with 1 cent corals being offered throughout the day (limit 2 per person/house/shipment). They will also be putting Reefin’ Pods and Reefin’ Super Pods on sale for 25% as well.
