UK aquarium manufacturer Reef One, maker of the Reef One BiOrb line of aquariums, was recently sold to a German conglomerate OASE GmbH for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by Paul Stevenson and his son Matt in 1998, Reef One has had some success producing a range of aquariums, most notably the BiOrb line with its patented filter.
“I saw OASE as the perfect fit to take the business to the next level and further cement our position as a key player in the UK market as well as build up distribution in North America and mainland Europe, where OASE has several subsidiaries and local salesforces,” said Reef One managing director Paul Stevenson, who is retiring. “In particular I am very happy that my great team will now be part of the OASE organisation.”
OASE GmbH, has its headquarters in Germany, along with production facilities in Germany, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands and China. OASE is considered a specialist in water gardens, indoor aquatics, fountain technology and lake management. It has implemented numerous large-scale projects worldwide including the dancing cranes in Singapore and the multimedia fountain installation in front of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
“We are very excited about the addition of BiOrb to our range,” Ansgar Paul, chief executive of OASE Group, said. “For several years we have watched and admired the design of the aquariums and the marketing around it. The unique BiOrb program will be the perfect complement to our own OASE indoor aquatics products, which will be available soon.”
OASE also noted this acquisition is also to strengthen the market launch of a new OASE aquatics range in February 2016.
OASE attended InterZoo in 2014 and will look forward to see if they integrate the Reef One products into their display later this year.
