The new AquaSprouts Garden is a unique new aquaponics garden combine the best of both worlds in gardening and fish keeping. The stylish system uses the waste from the fish to supply nutrients to the plants and in turn, the plants help keep the aquarium water cleaner for the fish.
Aquaponics systems are not new, but finding a stylish and compact system that is functional on both ends is something AquaSprouts and a few other vendors are looking to address.
The AquaSprouts Garden is a 10-gallon aquarium that is ready for few plants and your choice of fish. The plants integrated into the AquaSprouts Garden do the cleanup and filtering of the water, so no aquarium filters are needed. Included in the system is a small 160 GPH pump and a mechanical plug timer adjustable in 15-minute increments for controlling flood and drain cycles, along with a removable light bar for supplemental lighting.
Instead of soil, the AquaSprouts Garden uses a clay growing medium as a soil replacement. It does all that regular soil does without the degradation and mess supporting plant roots and wicking moisture to keep them from drying out. It provides filtration with plenty of surface area for microbes to latch on to and do the work of breaking down the fish waste.
