AquaBee Cove protein skimmers and media reactors are a new line of aquarium devices which are powered by killer water pumps. The new AquaBee Cove acrylic products is a new partnership between a bonafide German pump manufacturer, and Cove, an acrylic fabricator from China which has been making skimmers and reactors since 2005.
AquaBee is a company whose name is synonymous with quality and high performance water pumps. For years AquaBee has been the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for many of the aquarium hobby’s most prominent brands and skimmers, notably Deltec. With the reef aquarium landscape changing so quickly, AquaBee has made the jump into officially partnering up with Cove to bring some amazing skimmers and reactors to market.
Many western reefers in America and Europe have a dismal impression of many Chinese-made aquarium products but we assure you that Cove products are completely different. Sure the general designs are the same but the level of construction and quality of materials exceeds that which we have seen fro, virtually all acrylic products on the market today.
Everything about the thickness of the acrylic, the reinforcements of every bond, and the heavy duty gaskets and o-rings all scream durability the likes of which you usually only find in hand made products, or for commercial grade equipment. Better yet, all of the Cove skimmers and reactors are powered by AquaBee pumps, most of which are available in a DC controllable version.
Cove and AquaBee have been working together for some time but the official branding partnership is somewhat new, so final pricing and availability for the skimmers and reactors has not yet been fully hammered out. One thing’s for sure though, AquaBee was one of the first needle-wheel skimmers we ever used nearly twenty years ago so there’s no doubt that they know how to build a decent protein skimmer; the new AquaBee Cove only furthers that legacy.
