Dave Botwin, AKA O2manyFish, is a veteran reef aquarist who has been in the epicenter of the reef aquarium scene for at least 15 years now. Dave loves all things reef, including fish, corals and aquarium gear, and his diverse interests have culminated into quite the eclectic reef tank.
His 400 gallon reef tank is a cross section of all the coolest fish, corals and equipment that would normally be found across several reef tanks, but Dave has them all in one. His setup includes close to 150 reef fish, hundred of coral colonies, both SPS and LPS, and you’ll find dozens of angelfish species, a handful of beautiful Blastomussa and simply one of the biggest diversity of reef life we’ve ever seen in a single display.
We know we anointed Wesley Vreeswijk as the ultimate Control Freak but really, Dave is the original aquarium controller control freak with about 50 different devices and sensors being managed by his Aquarium Controller. Wires and cables and switches spread every direction like a dendritic web, from his controller and we really love the ‘quick-action’ buttons he’s installed in his stand to enact sophisticated feeding and lighting modes.
What we love most of the O2ManyFish reef tank is just how many different fish and corals are inside this glass box. We wouldn’t dare to mix so many different species of tangs, so many specimens of angelfish, both high energy SPS corals and low energy chalice and LPS corals in one tank, but Dave has clearly pulled it off.
Also, the narrated video is a fresh departure from many uninformative videos which tell you nothing substantial about the setup. Sure we all love seeing great video clips of reef tanks in time with a cool soundtrack, but it’s nice to get a first-hand walkthrough of a tank like this from the creator himself.
