Ultum Nature Systems is a new aquarium manufacturer which could be ramping up to make some of the nicest small tanks we’ve ever seen. There’s countless options for high quality small and nano aquariums but Ultum Nature Systems aquariums could have a very unique edge on the competition.
In America it’s simple and easy to walk into any pet shop and buy a ten gallon tank for close to ten dollars. But over a decade ago Aqua Design Amano pioneered the market for a completely different kind of aquarium, one with super clear glass and silicone, and perfectly square joints. Nowadays many different vendors offer this kind of upscale aquarium design but there’s only so many ways to make these square and rectangular aquariums.
However, Ultum Nature Systems is teasing a their new line of aquariums with very specially made edges and joining. In addition to using high-clarity Diamant glass UNS has been teasing their new tanks with mitered edges, something we’ve seen in a very few bespoke tanks, but never in this aquarium category.
With edges that are ground to a 45 degree angle, it is possible to join the walls of the tank into a virtually invisible seam. Furthermore, the angled joint has more surface area to contact making for a stronger overall bonded joint. This matters more for larger tanks seeking to enjoy a trimless design with no bracing but for tanks of this size, the mitered edges is mostly an aesthetic quality.
We’ve seen some great looking nano tanks from ADA, Do!Aqua and Mr. Aqua but we can’t wait to see what the Ultum Nature Systems aquariums look like in person. Pricing and availability for these exciting new nano tanks is still unknown, but we’ll report back as soon as we find out.
