The Eheim ThermoPreset is a new aquarium heater from the veteran aquarium brand. As you might have guessed from the name, the new Eheim ThermoPreset are a preset, non-adjustable aquarium heater which are programmed to heat aquarium water to 25C, or 77F, the perfect middle ground for tropical aquarium temperatures.
After all these decades of aquarium heaters, there still isn’t one go-to brand that can be truly reliably counted upon to work flawlessly. Part of the issue is that the adjustable dials and how they interact with the thermostat is almost always the cause of failure in a device that is designed to heat up.
This is why in recent years there’s been a wave of preset aquarium heaters which are intended to peg the temperature at the average temperature of 25C/77F. This new trend wasn’t lost on us as we’ve gravitated towards using preset heaters on our own aquariums as well.
The new Eheim ThermoPreset follows another trend of not being made from fragile glass, opting instead to be built form a heat-tolerant plastic. The ThermoPreset features a single indicator light during normal operation, with a fish-guard to keep fish away from its main heating element.
Eheim is offering the ThermoPreset in four sizes, from 50 watts to 200 watts and suitable for aquarium volumes from about 10 to 100 gallons. [Eheim]
