Scitronix is a new electronics company from Austria which just launched with ambitious goals in its sight. Billing itself as a ‘scientific electronics’ company, Scitronix has some interesting LED and controller products in mind.
The Discus LED is not round as the name implies, but an even square light with an LED package that isn’t being shown yet. Meanwhile the LittleBlue controller is only being teased in a pencil drawing for the hardware, and a rendered video for the software. The websites and social media platforms for Scitronix appear to be just a few days old but their Discus LED light and LittleBlue controller weren’t pulled from the ether.
The Scitronix Discus LED bears a striking similarity to the Vertex Illumina LED which we haven’t seen for some time now, and which was formerly made in Austria. Furthermore, the LittleBlue Controller looks strikingly familiar to the Vertex Cerebra which took six years to make, but was only launched very recently.
If I was a betting man I’d surmise that some former engineers and designers from the Austrian branch of Vertex done gone and formed their own company, but this is purely speculation. Nevertheless, Scitronix is also gunning for the horticulture market with both the Discus LED and another model called the Scalar both carrying with them grow-light monikers. [Scitronix]
