The Kessil H80 Tuna Flora is a new LED light that was revealed this past weekend at ReefStock. The H80 is a horticultural light that is fine tuned for photosynthesis, and use the same platform as the Kessil A80.
The chunk of aluminum from which the Kessil H80 is cut is more than enough to passively cool the 15 watts of LED. This power is very specifically tuned not for corals, but for driving photosynthesis in plants.
There are no white LEDs in the Kessil H80, just blues and red in the right proportion to stimulate the chlorophyll of plants, be it plant clones from a garden, or marine plants. So if you’ve got a little macroalgae or turf algae scrubber, the pinkish light should fuel the most growth and export the most nutrients of any comparable white refugium light.
With the introduction of the H80 Tuna Flora, in addition to the A80 Tuna Blue and Tuna Sun, Kessil now has three different models of their smallest LED aquarium light. We presume the Tuna Flora will cost the same as the current Tuna Blue and Tuna Sun, and all of them have an available miniature gooseneck for easy mounting for aquarium applications.
