The AquaZonic Sumo G2 water pumps are some new releases from Chinese company Qian Hu which surprisingly, are not DC pumps. Despite all the newest ‘exciting’ pumps being mostly of the controllable DC kind, there’s still plenty of uses for a ‘basic’ high quality AC pump.
The Sumo G2 pumps will come in five models, with flowrates ranging from 1,200 to 7,500 liters per hour (321 to 1,981 gallons per hour). This new line of high performance AC pumps bear a passing resemblance to the Fluval Sea SP2 pumps with the famous Laguna style motor.
The AquaZonic Sumo 2 can be run submerged or externally, they feature the latest in water resistant ceramic bearings for silent operation and overheat protection in the larger three models. However when you dive into the specifications it’s clear that the Sumo G2 will be more suitable for higher pressure applications.
The Sumo G2 pumps have maximum operating pressure in the neighborhood of 1.5 meters (five feet) for the smallest pump, around 7 to 8 feet for the two middle pumps, and jumping up quickly to 4.5 meters and 5 meters (15 to 16 feet) for the two largest models. Pricing for the new Sumo G2 pumps is currently unknown, but should you come across these in your aquatic life, we would definitely deem them worthy of consideration, especially for higher pressure applications.
