While touring Australian local fish stores we’re keeping a keen eye on the product shelves because you never know what might be found. So far the most peculiar product to grab our attention is a protein skimming enhancer in a bottle.
As you know, plenty of products will collapse the foam head of protein skimmers, particularly foods and many other ‘surfactants’. Reefoam is an interesting product by Aquasonic which claims to do the opposite, and actually enhances the foaming ability of protein skimmers.
Before you go grabbing your pitchforks, we have no idea wether this product is legit, whether it works, and if it’s worth using at all in the first place. At first we believed this might be a really old ‘legacy’ aquarium product that just hadn’t cleared from the store shelves yet, but apparently the company Aquasonic has a fairly modern website, with a product page for Reefoam.
We know literally nothing about this product or its claims so please don’t shoot the messenger, we’re just trying to expand everyone’s horizons. However if you have any experience with Reefoam, products like it, or some thoughts on how it might work, please feel free to politely opine in the comments below.
