Eco Divers Roatan
After a successful weekend at the Long Beach Scuba Show, it was about time we head down to the sunshine and back in the water. For the next three weeks, we will be diving with Eco Divers Roatan to help promote scuba diving on the Island and to continue our Caribbean Coral Identification Series.
Eco Divers is a laid-back bespoke dive center on the island of Roatan offering personalized diving experience with a focus on Marine Conservations. We are excited to be working with Eco Divers to promote coral awareness and coral identification diving.
If by chance you’re in Roatan over the next few weeks make sure to reach out through their website www.ecodiversroatan.com or come stop by the shop to learn more about Caribbean Corals. And if you really want to get involved this Friday we will be offering free critter count dives to monitor sea urchins!
We had the opportunity to hop on the boat yesterday morning and boy oh boy are we looking forward to what’s to come. The water was crystal clear and the reefs are covered in corals. Our last Caribbean diving was in the Cayman Islands and we can already see the shift in the coral community just after a single dive.
On yesterday’s dive, we saw some magnificent colonies of Agaricia tenuifolia which we saw very little of in the Caymans. We also spotted some Agaricia humulis, and a colony of Isophyllia rigida.
Later in the month we will be heading over to the mainland to visit Eco Divers marine research center Tela Marine so be sure to check back often for updates from Honduras. And make sure to follow us on Facebook for some 360 underwater videos later this week!
