The aquarium service and maintenance business represent a huge part of the American reef aquarium hobby. There are literally thousands of professionally maintained reef tanks that look very different from our home and hobby tanks.
Premier Fish & Reef has been doing killer reef tanks for clients for well over a decade and last week, we went to see one of their oldest, most established reef tanks. The thing is, if you’re taking care of a ten year old reef tank properly, it should look like a three year old reef tank, due to rampant coral growth and a heavy hand at coral pruning.
I know that aquarium maintenance companies usually have some kind of catchy internal codename for most of their clients and account. And this one is called the Electric Sunburst Reef due to a nice patch of Sunburst bubble tip anemones smack in the middle of one side of the reef tank.
This is a lovely reef tank with some great corals, interesting fish, and in this video we take a closer look at the equipment that makes it all run. There’s no black magic in the success of this reef, just good old aquarium fundamentals, and some advanced techniques which have now become contemporary.
There’s going to be a lot of tank tour videos in Reef Builders’ future, as this is the best way to really give you a front row seat to seeing a reef remotely. We hope you enjoyed this reef and this latest video of it, we’ve got a ton of great new videos coming this summer so be sure and subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t already.
