It’s no secret that the aquarium hobby exploded with the growth of the internet. And now with content creators finding fertile grounds on YouTube we’re seeing a renaissance of citizen reporting on the aquarium hobby from a wide diversity of reefers.
This year Reefapalooza has been a meetup for YouTubers as much as reefers and there are already tons of videos about last weekend’s big reef show. While we work on polishing up our own coverage, we thought it’s be fun to take a moment and spotlight some of the up and comers, the reefing YouTubers who each imparted video coverage of the show in their own unique style.
First up is Mr Reef Buster, this is a nice long walkthrough with no commentary, except at the beginning, good for when you just want to take a seat and cruise the show through someone else’s eyes.
I simply love this one from Simply Reefing because goodies and shwag is one of my favorite parts of reef shows. I always pack my bags with consideration to leave some room for all the gear and shwag I might bring back.
This clip by ReefSpy is a fun one because it’s a condensed travelog video which is short and sweet, and there’s some great explanations as to why you have to go to reefing events if you can.
Reefbum’s been at this a little longer than the others on this list and it shows with his focused approach. It’s nice to see what tickles reefers’ fancy at these events in particular, so this video is one to watch.
And now if you want to throw all expectations out the window, this two hour livestream by Rico’s Reeftank is about as immersive as you can get. This video is from Day 2, there’s a long livestream of Day 1 as well but I picked this one because it’s in portrait orientation.
