Coral Candy is the name of a new coral food that we sighted for the first time this weekend at Reefapalooza in New York. Coral Candy is a do it all food with a mix of ingredients across a range of particle sizes to feed basically everything in your reef tank.
There are larger particles for your LPS corals, small particles for the SPS, and extra fine ones for suspension feeders such as soft corals, bivalves sponges and tunicates. The food looks like any other finely ground coral foods but it does have a different smell, not purely shrimp-aroma like we’re used to with some other foods – and it’s definitely just flake food dust like some manufacturers are trying to pass off as coral food.
I personally use a wide range of foods, sometimes preferring to use foods optimized for certain corals so as to sink or stay in the water column, but other times a good coral gumbo like Coral Candy is great to feed all the corals at once. [Coral Candy]
