Pets in the Classroom is a great opportunity to bring animals into the school environment. As schools are starting to get back in session, its a great reminder how beneficial having an animal or fish in the classroom can be. But with teachers and schools struggling just to have the basic supplies, many kids aren’t able to enjoy this fantastic experience. But thanks to the Pets in the Classroom program, many will have this opportunity.
Pets in the Classroom is an educational grant program that provides financial support to teachers to purchase and maintain small animals in the classroom. The program was established by the Pet Care Trust to provide children with an opportunity to interact with pets—an experience that can help to shape their lives for years to come.
They are now taking grant applications to June 2018. The process is pretty simple, first check to see if you’re eligible. You must be a pre-K through 9th grade public or private school teacher in the US or Canada and first time taking advantage of the program this year. Once you’re approved, chose your pet and then claim your grant!
The grant can be a voucher for one of many participating pet stores or you can chose to be reimbursed for an animal up to a certain value.
If you are a teacher or have kids in school, make sure to pass this on.
