Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine celebrating 65 years with a special $19.52 subscription. It is hard to believe they’ve been trucking along since 1952, and we hope to see them for another 65 years.
The first issue appeared in September 1952 and evolved to the bi-monthly magazine we see today, geared to hobbyist keepers of tropical fish, with news and information on a variety of topics. On the magazine website, their main headline reads “The World’s Most Trusted Source of Information About the Fascinating World of Fishkeeping.”
One of my earliest memories in the hobby is getting a hold of an aquarium magazine and just enjoying looking at page after page of fish pictures, products and setups. Later on I would read the magazines, front to back, looking for ideas, gaining knowledge and pouring over all the ads in the back picking out all the stuff I’d buy if I had the money.
This has changed a bit over the years. Fish mags and books turned to websites and forum boards. I stopped buying the magazines, but still love the hobby. At this great price however, its well worth looking into and getting back in touch with the printed copy.
