Scubapro Z1
Earlier this year Scubapro Japan quietly introduced the Z1, their first solar powered dive computer. I’m not sure how this exciting find slipped under my radar, but here we are.
As far as I can tell the Z1 is only available in Japan, but it make us wonder with DEMA fast approaching, will we see Scubapro introduce a solar powered dive computer in the US market? The Z1 looks like an upgraded version of the Chromis computer with a new wrist strap for the black model and optional solid metal band.
The Scubapro Z1 comes with standard computer functions, alarms, deco stops, scuba and free diving mode, and up to 4 gas mixes. The Z1 is Bluetooth compatible and Scubapro has released a new app called Z Dive Log which allows you to quickly pair a Z1 computer with a smart device so you can upload and share dive profiles.
However, unless you’re living in Japan it might be tough to get your hands on the Z1. It’s time to sit back and cross your fingers that Scubapro will introduce solar powered computers to their lineup at DEMA 2017.
