The Buddy Light is an ingenious new dive tank accessory which increases the safety of diving. This simple LED indicator system simply connects to a high pressure port of your regulator system and lets your buddy or dive guide know approximately how much air is inside your tank.
The Buddy Light displays a different color depending on air pressure remaining with a violet-white indicating a full tank between 180 to 200 bar, a blue color for between 110 to 180 bar, a green light means it’s time to start heading for the surface with 60 to 110 bar. Finally, we all know what the red light means, and at 60 bars or less you better be coming up or pretty close to the surface already.
This is not the first tank indicator light we’ve seen from the dive inudstry but the Buddy Light is completely standalone, single purpose, which means it’s a lot cheaper and reasonably affordable for dive operators to outfit a fleet of regulators, especially for keeping track of guests during night dives (and their respective air pressure). The nominal price of the Buddy Light is $110 but the DEMA show price is currently sitting at $89 with an even better introductory pricing for dive guides interested in trying one out. [HiBuddy]
