ReefHD Reef Flux is the new name for Algae Buster we wrote about last year. The fluconazole anti-fungal medication first registered with the FDA as an algaecide is now sporting the new moniker and tagline as “antifungal fish medication.”
Not sure if this is due to issues with registering it with the FDA, but the website and labeling clearly note the change. In fact, it does state on the website, “Previously known as Algae Buster, Reef Flux is an aquarium fluconazole treatment that is effective against fungal fish infections. To avoid unintended nutrient spikes it should not be used in tanks with Bryopsis or Caulerpa refugiums.”
ReefHD contains 200mg capsules Fluconazole that is effective in treating fungal diseases in fish like Ichthyophonus hoferi and Saprolegnia fungus. The side effect is potential reduction in certain types of algae.
Either way, if you’re looking to “treat” some “fungus” and are “fine” with losing some algae, then give this a try…wink wink nudge nudge.
