With the growth of coral frags as an integral part of the reef aquarium hobby, so too have frag racks become a necessity for regular new coral acquisitions. Magnetic frag racks have become particularly popular, allowing reefers to make use of the vertical walls of their tanks, and keeping corals off the bottom of the tank and the sand bed.
The two most popular style of magnetic frag holders are the classic eggcrate style racks which hold a maximum number of frags, and frag shelves which can be made of resin or ceramic, and are designed to blend into the reef aquarium aquascape. This narrow strip of ceramic is colored purple to blend in with coralline growth, and holds up to six well-spaced coral frags. The Mag Rock 6.0 also comes with six purple frag plugs in case you wanted to mount (or remount) your coral frags on plugs to match the narrow shelf.
One of the benefits of this very small mass frag shelf is that it is very easy to support with small magnets, and the Mag Rock 6.0 comes with a very strong magnetic pair for glass up to 5/8 inch thick. While it may only hold six frag plugs, the attractive design and generous spacing makes this $25 a very welcome accessory to mount new aquarium corals.
