If there is one lighting brand that has become synonymous with reef aquarium shows it’s Kessil. Whether you’re at ReefStock, MACNA, or ReefAPalooza it’s hard not to see a significant number of Kessil’s lights on so many of the coral and frag tanks.
It all started with the soda can sized A150 LED spotlight with the handy gooseneck mount that makes it incredibly easy to set up and tear down at conferences. Over time the lights were upgraded to tunable A160s, A360s and the newer AP700 which allowed lights to be quickly adjusted to different spectrum either for viewing or for photography.
This has been great for coral vendors and coral buyers, especially since Kessil’s spectrum is particularly flattering to corals. And since so many people have Kessils over their home tanks, they could expect the corals to look exactly the same in their own tanks as they do in the vendor’s displays.
But most of all this has been great for Kessil since they participate so heavily in reef aquarium conferences and it’s safe to say the brand has grown right along side the popularity of coral farmers markets, local shows and large regional events alike.
