The Reef Roller Manual is a new version of Tropical Marine Centre’s ‘Automatic’ filter roll which does away with the automatic part, and concentrates simply on the filter roll. Unlike the original Reef Roller launched this time last year, as the name implies the Reef Roller Manual is advanced manually which means you have to keep an eye on it, but will also save you a few quid.
TMC’s Reef Roller Manual comes in the three sizes, a small which handles a filter roll up to 20 meters (65 feet) or a medium and large size which both can hold a roll up to 50 meters (165 feet) long. Besides the obvious difference in size and cost, the biggest operating difference is how much volume of water they can comfortably filter. The Reef Roller Small, Medium and Large can handle flowrates of 2,000 lph, 3,000 lph and 4,000 lph respectively.
By creating a manual version of the Reef Roller without float switches, high torque motor or any kind of plug, Tropical Marine Centre has essentially shaved around 60£ or $70 from the overall price. This makes the TMC Reef Roller Manual the most affordable ‘advance-able’ filtration device on the market with the Reef Roller Manual Small priced at 99£, the medium is 109£ and the large is 129£.
