Several weeks ago we received a truly epic shipment of fish from RVS Fishworld and Coast Tropicals. The unboxing of these awesome fish, and my live reaction at this overwhelming bounty was captured on video in which I shared my shock and awe at getting my hands on some holy grail and super rare species.
Today we have an update to how all these fish are doing in their quarantine and conditioning quarters. We’re still not accustomed to seeing the five figure tiger angelfish swimming around with saltwater adapted mollies from the tropical fish store. Perhaps equally surprising is seeing both the uber rare Apolemichthys kingi and the reluctant regal angelfish both eat pelleted fish food like it’s their favorite.
So far there’s been no sign of disease, I’ve dipped a couple times for a single fluke trying to install itself on the eyes of the angelfish. I’ve experienced one wrasse loss who must have jumped when the lid was opened for feeding because it was in a completely covered cubicle, but that’s to be expected from flighty, jumpy wrasses.
The exciting part of sharing this video update on the new fish at the studio is that now, many of these fish can get moved to other displays which so far, are pretty full of corals but somewhat sparse on fish. The tangs and anthias will see the most widespread distribution while the majority of the Madagascar fish are destined for a future FOWLR style aquarium setup.
