The tanked reality show that everyone in the aquatics industry loved to hate is finally calling it quits after 7 years. Tanked started in 2011 and the first pilot ordered 6 episodes. The show based on a custom aquarium manufacturer series would install various reef tanks and some freshwater tanks for clients across the world. The show was a hit for the demographics and time slot for Animal Planet with casual views tuning into the show. However, like most things in the television industry, nothing lasts forever and the time to pull the show had come. The two major stars of the show Wayde King and Brett Raymer will continue to own Acrylic Tank Manufacturing the business the show tanked was based. The pair helped build the discovery of reef tanks regardless of their sometimes unorthodox approaches to fish stocking and development. Interestingly, Brett Raymer is selling his 9,760 square foot mansion which was gutted to a reef builders dream including a 700-gallon kitchen aquarium, home theater, game room, and fan favorite a wine and cheese cellar. It is listed on the market for a cool 3.2 million.
What’s next for the duo? Youtube of course. Brett and Wayde will start their very own Youtube channel doing the exact same thing they were doing before building freshwater and reef tanks and no doubt will make for some very good entertainment.
