The Deltec E-Flow is an exciting high performance water pump that we’ve been interested in for more than seven years. Deltec has been designing various models and improving on the features of the E-Flow for the European market since 2012 but this weekend American reefers will finally be able to buy on in the United States.
The new new Deltec USA will be exhibiting at MACNA in Orlando this weekend in booth 716 where they will be showing off the E-Flow Pump, our favorite new calcium reactor and of course the line of protein skimmers that made Deltec a (reefing) household name. The Deltec E-Flow is a controllable DC pump with a true sine wave power signal and high performance bearings for maximum efficiency and minimal noise.
One interesting detail about Deltec’s E-Flow pumps is that instead of simply building the pump and associated parts in a variety fo sizes, Deltec has instead chosen to build just a few motor sizes, but they have been fine tuned for different applications. The ‘smaller’ E-Flow 10 pumps 2368 gph and can handle up to 20 feet of head pressure for $899, the larger E-Flow R3 meanwhile has reduced maximum flow of 2105 gph but can push up to 31 feet of head pressure for $999.
The ‘middle’ pump is the Deltec E-Flow 12 priced at $999 moves a maximum of 3105 gph and up to 26 feet of head and this is the model we’ve been using in the studio to drive a small collection of reef aquarium displays. With proper installation and wide diameter feed pipe to reduce friction we’re currently supplying water to four tanks at five feet of head while using only 40 of the maximum 130 watts the E-Flow 12 is rated up to. We’re thrilled to see these exotic high performance DC pumps finally make their way from Europe to America and will be sure to check out the E-Flow and other Deltec gear at MACNA this weekend.
