Everyone loves new frags and last week we had the good fortune of visiting the Disneyland of aquarium frag culture, Worldwide Corals in Orlando Florida. As is tradition, we spent the majority of our time documenting as much as we could from behind our camera lens but every now and then, a coral made us stop and enjoy the polyps.
It’s hard to pinpoint what attracted us to certain corals and strains, especially when there is literally tens of thousands to looks at, and thousands of coral frags to choose from. It’s no hyperbole to say that anyone visiting WWC’s new Superstore is almost instantly blinded by the diversity of corals on display and paralyzed by choice.
It’s been a good long time since any of us have attended a good reef aquarium conference or frag swap but if you did, picture a tank full of the brightest frags you’ve ever seen, and then imagine 100 feet of that same display and you’ll start to get an understanding of the abundance on display at the Worldwide Corals superstore. We picked out just around 20 frags and had them delivered the day after we returned to the Reef Builders Studio and shared our unboxing experience on video.
We got a few nice Micromussa Lords, several Blastomussa, a uniquely colored Duncanopsammia, a nice trio of Euphyllia corals – two gold tipped hammers and a neon green branching frogspawn, a classic green mouth, pink colored zoanthid, three Acro frags and one of those interesting red & green grafted Montipora digitata. With so many corals to enjoy at the RB Studio already, we have to be very selective about what we add to our coral collection but we’re very glad with our selections from Worldwide Corals, especially in this time when we can’t shop for corals at any events or conferences.
This coral frag unboxing is just the opening salvo to a mini series of videos we’ll be sharing about our visit to the paradise of coral culture we visited in Orlando, so we sincerely hope you’ll subscribe to the official Reef Builders Youtube channel so you don’t miss any of the mouth-watering, retina burning corals we’ll be sharing in our upcoming videos.
