The yellow carpet anemone recently discovered by Outback Aquatics might be the last shade of the rainbow to be seen in this beautiful reef animal. We’ve seen and enjoyed some amazing specimens of Stichodactyla carpet anemones in blue, red, green, red, pink, and even some rainbow specimens but this is the first yellow specimen we’ve seen in nearly seven years!
Keep in mind that like so many other super vivid specimens, this yellow carpet anemone is not just yellow, but hides a beautiful ‘undercoat’ of light green color and bright pink mouth. Just as you’d expect with the brilliantly colored Stichodactyla carpet anemones, this yellow carpet ‘nem is the kind of coloration that looks great under white light, but will also knock your socks off under fluorescent blue lighting.
For some of you thinking you might be able to order this glorious anemone from Outback Aqua, you should know that Australian reefers have a deep passion and appreciation for exotic anemones, so this yellow carpet anemone is likely to remain an Australian resident. Having seen carpet anemones appear in so many rich colors we won’t be surprised by wildly colored Stichodactyla specimens anymore, however we will still be impressed and hope to one day score some ‘basic’ blues, greens and purple carpet anemones for ourselves!
