Red Sea is a global aquarium brand and in the United States their distribution center is based near Houston Texas where intense winter storms knocked out power for millions of residents. The lack of power and severe cold weather have put a lot of Texans through quite the ordeal and it certainly isn’t any better for our power hungry tropical saltwater aquariums.
We don’t even need a news bulletin to know that many saltwater and reef aquariums have greatly suffered, some have probably crashed altogether because there’s just no chance of survival for reef animals experiencing both frigid temperatures and stagnant water. In solidarity with their fellow Texans, Red Sea is offering free saltwater through participating Texas fish stores for aquarists needing to reboot, restart, or otherwise improve their reef tanks after damage caused by the severe winter storms.
We’re not sure what the threshold will be to receive free Red Sea saltwater – premixed from participating retailers from Dallas to Houston – or how much will be provided. But if you have legitimately suffered losses in your saltwater aquarium and have some photos to corroborate the troubles, bring your documentation to Red Sea’s participating retailer designated in their facebook post and get your tank back on track with some life sustaining water changes.
