Today we once again visit the home tank of Evan Montgomery where we show off some of the old school corals in his display. Many of these corals have been circulating in the hobby for decades, beloved by reef hobbyists world wide.
Much of the focus in the hobby nowadays is on new arrivals to the hobby, be it from the wild or developed in captivity. We thought we would shed some light on why some of the classics shown here have been enjoyed in reef tanks year after year.
These often hardy corals are a perfect addition to any reef tank for both beginners as well as seasoned aquarists. With awe inspiring coloration and growth forms that leave little to be desired, many of the classic corals add an element of diversity to the aquascape.
This glimpse into Evan’s aquarium highlights some of his favorites added to the collection over the years. Although the tank is only two years old we can see that these long time favorite corals took no time to entirely cover the rockscape, and transform a 90 gallon glass box into a stunning display.
If you want to see more of Evan’s tank check out this full tour of the system from about six months prior when we put a serious dent in bushwacking the overgrowth.
