The InkBirdPlus Aquarium Heater is a heating element with some very interesting features but it doesn’t appear to be anything more than a private labeled product. Coming in at $28.99 for 300 watts this aquarium heater is made with a titanium tube, has a built-in LCD display and an external remote for setting the desired temperature anywhere in the range of 68 to 94?F.
The built-in LCD screen displays the current temperature with two indicator LEDs that not only tell you when the heater is on, but also when it’s off, so you never have to guess whether your heater is plugged in or not, and they’re different colors so you can determine the status of your the heater operation at a glance. Despite being sold on the InkBirdPlus Amazon webshop there’s no mention of this product on InkBird’s own website, nor of any kind of warranty, and we don’t expect that Inkbird provides any actual product support for InkbirdPlus branded gear.
On the flipside, it appears that the same exact heater is available under the Vivosun brand in six sizes ranging from 50 to 500 watts, and the largest model comes in one dollar cheaper than the InkbirdPlus at only $27.99. The InkbirdPlus Aquarium Heater has been available since June and user reviews seem to point to being very efficient at actually heating the aquarium water and the matte black finish makes for a nice stealthy aquairum heating option.
But what is missing is any outward mention of warranty and while we love the features that this aquarium heater is offering, there’s a reason very few big brands make a real go at making a better aquarium heater – heaters and water are a dangerous mix and it’s very difficult to make a durable aquarium heater that can truly last a long time while being fully submersible. It might be tempting to see the Inkbirdplus name on this aquarium heater and naturally associate it with the reliability of the Inkbird company, but if it’s not on their website it’s not really an Inkbird product, so you might as well go with the option carrying the Vivosun label.
