The Hanna HI97105 Marine Master Multiparameter Checker is new water testing device which combines all of the major parameters of reef aquarium chemistry into one photometric machine. The Marine Master Checker from Hanna can measure pH, alkalinity, calcium, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate which is more than enough for virtually all aquarium needs, especially live corals and reef tanks.
Priced at $295 the Hanna Marine Master Checker is basically the same cost of the six Hanna Checkers that it replaces, although arguably the pH and nitrite are probably less useful for regular reef aquarium maintenance. But as you can discern from the pictures the monochrome digital LCD display can do so much more than just report back the concentrations of the values you are testing as it can also walk you through the testing procedures, it automatically logs the last 50 tests that it performed, and has a range of features to help users get the most from this all-in-one water testing machine.
The Hanna Marine Master Multiparameter Photometer cost just under three hundred dollars but Hanna is also offering a full kit for $395 which comes with way more than enough kits and reagents for every parameter that it can measure to offset the $100 premium. So if you’re a regular user of even some of these parameters for Hanna Checkers you’d be silly for not enjoying the massive discount of reagents that comes with the $395 bundle.
As far as we can see the only thing that the Hanna HI97105 Marine Master doesn’t come with is any kind of communication port like wifi, bluetooth or USB to enable digital offloading of measured values to a 3rd party logging and graphing program. There’s got to be some kind of input for installing/updating the software and firmware so perhaps the ability to talk to external programs could be enabled in the future and make the Marine Master the alpha and omega of our water testing universe.
For sure there’s a ton more features included in the Hanna HI97105 Marine Master Multiparameter Photometer such as the ability to calibrate the photodiodes, tutorials and more that we hope to discover when the next batch is available from Hanna sometime in January. We’ve been relying on Hanna Checkers for measuring calcium, alkalinity, nitrate and phosphate at the Reef Builders Studio for several years and we don’t know what we would do without them, but the Marine Master looks like a solution so slick we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
