With ReefStock Australia just a couple months away our mind is daydreaming about the hyperactive reef aquarium scene in the land down under and especially the many reef aquarium stores to be found there. We wished we could have traveled to Australia over the last few years but a growing circle of reefing Youtubers have been sprouting up in Australia and we keep tabs on First Time Reefer TV, Blake’s Aquatics, Gallery Aquatica and especially Parker’s Reef videos to find out what’s going on from Melbourne to Sydney to Brisbane.
Australian reefers and businesses have unfettered access to the a ridiculous coral supply from the Great Barrier Reef, the oddballs of Darwin in the Northern Territories and the wicked corals from the Indian Ocean on the west coast. We’ve done our share of LFS tours in Australia but there’s so many more that we’ve never seen and plenty which have popped up over the last few years including Aquamarine Aquaristic located in Doncaster, Victoria.
The perks of reefing in Australia are on full display at Aquamarine Aquaristic since this store is overflowing with all of the hobby’s most popular corals including Acropora colonies and frags, zoanthids, huge nurseries of LPS corals like Acanthophyllia (which Aussies affectionately call Deshies) and flowerpot corals for days! We’ve actually been following their Novice Reef Keepers Australia channel but Sam’s recent store tour video really put this store on our map with more desirable corals than anyone could ever hope to take home all at once.
But what makes this store tour video really stand out is the truly world class reef aquarium displays that customers of Aquamarine Aquaristic are treated to – their tanks are dominated by fields of colorful stony corals with fantastic groupings of popular Euphyllia, Acanthophyllia and Goniopora corals. If you live in the greater Melbourne area you have to see Aquamarine Aquaristic as this shop will be one of our first objectives next time we make it to that part of Australia.
