GNC Italia, manufacturers of the BLURAY and Bridge LED aquarium light fixtures, has announced that it has formed a sister company called GNC BLURAY INC to bring the Italian-made lights to the USA.
Collaborations are at the heart of GNC BLURAY, INC, (according to their press release,) and the new company plans to forge partnerships with distributors and retailers within the aquarium industry, ensuring widespread availability of its products Stateside. Tailored approaches will also be developed for coral reproduction initiatives, research entities, and organizations.
Up until now, GNC lights have been 100% “Made in Italy,” although the new American entity says that to emphasize operational efficiency, it remains agile in exploring the possibility of a “Made in the USA” product. This approach combines US assembly with 100% “Made in Italy” components, offering a competitive combination that “aligns with market expectations.”
US assembly may help to keep unit retail pricing competitive versus shipping built, boxed units from Europe, as well as opening up opportunities for servicing, warranties, and just better, more informed, more direct connectivity with the Italian manufacturer if its US distributor becomes directly involved in assembly and the physical nuts and bolts of the product. If US assembly goes ahead, it’s a win for everyone in the supply chain.
Jake Adams ran a GNC BLURAY lamp over his famous Scoly dominant, Australian coral tank in the Reef Builders Studio, and followed the progression of the Italian manufacturer’s fixtures via several published articles and reviews on this website. We look forward to greater availability and growth of this new American-Italian partnership in reef aquarium lighting.
