On a recent trip to Denver for some upgrades at the Reef Builders Studio, Salem and I embarked on a very important side quest. We had heard rumors of a legendary hobbyist with a shed filled with fish, coral, and a unique NPS (non-photosynthetic) tank.
This hobbyist, John, resides in Loveland, CO. He once crafted French horns in this very shop in his backyard, but after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, he decided to sell his business and elevate his passion for reef keeping to the next level.
I wish I had been recording when Salem and I first walked through the door of John’s former workshop. Our reaction was visceral. In perfect unison, we both exclaimed, “OH… MY… GOD!” People often overuse the phrase, “Video doesn’t do it justice,” but in this case, it’s absolutely true.
Enjoy our tour of John’s extraordinary aquariums! We are already planning to return and delve deeply into each system individually.
