OceanSeaWave wavemakers see a return to a tried and tested wave-making technology, but with several twists that bring it up to speed with the modern age. Made by British company Ocean Sea Products, and designed and manufactured in Wales, UK, the OceanSeaWave consists of a servo inside a housing that oscillates, turning a pole inside the aquarium that swings back and forth, left to right, in a slow, regular rhythm. It’s a desktop fan for underwater.
We’ve seen oscillators before in the WavySea and Sea Swirl, but unlike previous sweep inventions, this one isn’t designed to connect to a return pump and have water flow through it, it’s designed to connect to modern DC wave pumps, and that brings a whole new level of random water movement capability.
The newest generation OceanSeaWave comprises three main models; the preprogrammed Coral, the manual speed and angle adjustable Pacific, and the fully Wi-Fi controllable, temperature monitoring Atlantic. All can be clamped to both braced and rimless aquariums, and there is a telescopic pole for user height adjustment once in the water. Add the magnetic mounting disc and all three models will attach to most magnet-mounting DC wave pumps available in the market, from Jebao/Jecod to AI’s Nero.
The Flagship Atlantic model can control two units off one controller, while still allowing independent control of each via the app. They will all clamp to glass up to 20mm thick, and the circular frag accessory that attaches to the pole, (gently moving the frags at the same time,) is a really nice design touch.
There’s something about oscillating water movement that makes sense, especially seeing how long tentacled anemones, torch corals, and gonis react to the rhythm it creates. Couple that with an adjustable model in each corner, modern DC wave pumps, and all their existing flow patterns, and you should be able to create something even closer to nature, that your fish and corals will love.
UK prices are £94, £159, and £195 for the Coral, Pacific, and Atlantic respectively. Magnetic mounting discs are £36, Nero brackets are £22-£32, and the circular frag rack is £12. Ocean Sea Products can also ship to America, with American plugs.
