Unlike the classic children’s song, there’s a lot to love here. Your fish will gobble up these little polychaete delicacies and ask for more.
Julian Sprung of Two Little Fishies has once again found a great addition to our aquarium feeding regimen, WormBitz. Admittedly, the outside of the jar is more attractive than the contents. It features a spiffy label displaying a lovely Chelmon marginalis, much like the one in our reef. Said butterfly is quite spoiled, enjoying frequent hand feedings. It didn’t take long for WormBitz to become one of its favorite foods.
Fairy wrasses, Pomacanthid and Genicanthus angels as well as variety of butterflies consumed these freeze dried delicacies with fervor. To feed, one places a small amount of worms into a container of aquarium water. After a few minutes they are properly hydrated and can be fed. Target feeding is possible using tweezers or Julian’s Thing. Once hydrated the food will sink slowly and not immediately end up in your overflow. If you find that the WormBitz are hanging at the surface, they likely required a bit more soak time. The use of a MagFeeder can help here if you are leveraging an auto-feeder and using it dry.
WormBitz is a chopped freeze-dried marine polychaete that can be used to feed a variety of marine and freshwater fishes. It can also be used for target feeding LPS or other small sessile inverts. Rich in protein, amino acids , highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), WormBitz provides a great source of nutrition.
Stop by your favorite LFS or online retailer and grab a jar. Your critters will thank you!
