The KR92 EcoLamp LED light fixture from Hong Kong is just the latest unreleased (in the US) product that RB has groped for the benefit of our readers. The KR92 is a decent LED light fixture we reported months ago but so far this product is only available by ordering from the parent company in Hong Kong. Like so many of the shoddily built chinese LED products, we had reservations about what the KR92 would look like but the fixture is built like a shick brithouse; the entire fixture is one big aluminum heatsink with well seated LED strips that sit nice and flush with the exterior and a low profile display that appears to be splashproof. The 150 watts of on-board LED power in the 36″ unit bring two things to mind: first is that it is a lot of LED light and two, what is the point of using 150 watts of LED when you could use 156 watts of T5 lighting and get equal or greater light output but with at a fraction of the initial investment? However, Eco-Lamps is claiming that this fixture should match the light output of a 250 metal halide pendant but we hope that means a similar light intensity across the whole 36″/90cm length. Although we loved the appearance and build of the fixture in person, the KR92 unit we handled shipped with a 220v driver so we were not able to see just how much punch this light makes. The KR92 comes in a black or silver finish and the 150 watt, 36″ model runs US$1247 while the 200 watt, 48″ iteration is US$2012, prices before shipping. For more details, see our previous coverage of the KR91 and KR92 lamps and follow the break for many more pics of the 48″ KR92.
