Archiquarium is one stylish tank for the minimalistic eye

By on Nov 08, 2011

We tend to go overboard on the reefing side of things and at times our tanks turn into monstrosities only a fellow hobbyist would find appealing. The Archiquarium is much different look than a messy looking beast of an aquarium with clean lines and a unique, modern look.

The aquarium is designed by Karl-Oskar Ankarberg from Karl-Oskar Designstudio and made by Swedish manufacturer Akvarie-Leasing in a collaboration with Orrefors Glass Factory. The Archiquarium and Archiquarium II are made with 8 mm glass and the solid-colored facade made from Corian. The light colored stand is made from ash giving it a very Scandinavian look.

The block effect and multiple levels in the aquarium gives it a neat look for anyone who appreciates a clean modern look. The aquarium includes a pump, heater and light enough to keep a simple freshwater aquarium but we’re sure with a little tweaking this could make a nice simple saltwater setup.

Fill up your sink with water, put a glass under the water fill it with water then raise the glass by the bottom up while leaving the mouth of the glass still under water.   The water stays inside the glass yet is higher than the level of water in the sink… same principle

or it’s just an aquarium molded into an “L” shape that fills from bottom to top like any other box of water.

    me not like…

just by looking at the aquarium stand (table like with “loose legs”) we can see the designer knows little about a solid stand…

the mix of fishkeeping and designers/fashion can have these very sad results… :/
