If you live on the West Coast and anywhere near the southwest, you likely have attended the now-iconic Reefapalooza marine aquarium conference which happens every fall at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Reefapalooza is the largest gathering of marine and reef aquarists in the world in sheer numbers, with well north of 4,000 attendees annually.
If you live on the East Coast you’ve likely heard of Reefapalooza and wondered what the hub-bub is all about, but next weekend April 26th & 27th the movement is coming to Orlando Florida. You’ve probably been to a regional marine aquarium event, and maybe even attended a MACNA or two but Reefapalooza is its own thing, with a very different energy and atmosphere, and more crazy corals and frags than you can shake a fuzzy stick at.
Lou and Victor have gone to great lengths to promote Reefapalooza Orlando separately from their World Wide Corals enterprise, but the fact is that this is a WWC corals production and they’ve used their clout to gather some of the best reef companies and coral slingers from around the country. Reefapalooza will also feature some of America’s most respected marine aquarium authors and speakers including mysef (Jake Adams), Julian Sprung, Mike Paletta, Tony Vargas and Justin Zimmerman.
Reefapalooza will be two days of frenzied marine aquarium enjoyment at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel and while you’re in the area, make sure to make time for visiting Seaworld’s reef exhibits and the infamous World Wide Corals retail location. A small fortune of marine aquarium equipment and prizes will be raffled off both days and entry to the Reefapalooza show floor will be free to seniors and juniors, and only $15 a day for the rest of us.
The action starts next Saturday April 26th at 11am and when we’re not live blogging the goodies of the show, we’ll be talking reef at our own Reef Builders booth in the company of several thousand of our closest reef friends. See you there! [Reefapalooza Orlando]
