We recently heard straight from the horses mouth that the aquarium division of PFO Lighting, PFO Aquatics is now only manufacturing LED based lights for use on aquariums. The news comes from Joy Meadows, the division’s chief representative and the former owner of Harbor Aquatics. With a very well received newest iteration of the Solrais light, the American made I-5, and at least two forthcoming models of lower end Galileo fixtures, the company tells us that the metal halide market is just too crowded and that they are having so much demand for LEDs that they have already discontinued their metal halide products. The news will be disappointing to legions of reef aquarists who have come to love the high level of craftsmanship in PFO halide fixtures but we hope that with more resources directed at their LED fixtures, the company will continue to make the Solaris and Galileo even better.
