While on the second day of our local fish store crawl we noticed an aquarium antique which will be familiar to reefers with more than a little salt creep around the edges. Surely the antique hydrometer in the image above is more at home with an entourage of bleached coral skeletons and air driven skimmers than any of the high tech, wireless and online devices many reefers more commonly use nowadays. The hydrometer form factor like the one above was first introduced in the 1970’s although it was manufactured well into the ’90s. We’ll be keeping ours in the box to see if it’s value appreciates over time.
