The 6 meter reef aquarium of Pieter van Suijlekom is an iconic reef aquarium if ever there was one. For those of us measuring on the imperial system, 6 meters is just shy of 20 feet and if the length of the front glass pane wasn’t enough of a challenge to install, this panoramic aquarium also features a dramatic convex shape. The front pane was made using two panes of glass that are 1/2″ thick and they were bonded together for a dramatic effect. If the tank construction itself doesn’t impress you enough, the aquarium is chock full of many large and show sized exotic fish and a nearly uninterrupted field of SPS colonies from end to end. This aquarium is illuminated with metal halide spots and it also abuts a southern window which lets in plenty of natural sunlight. Follow the break for another video of the 6 meter reef as it was back in may of 2008.
